Thomasina in Tom Stoppard's mind bending time warping play, ARCADIA, observes that when you stir raspberry jam into vanilla pudding it will first swirl in streaks but ultimately will turn the entire pudding pink. If you stir the pudding in the opposite direction, the jam will not separate back out again. --LIFE MOVES ONLY FORWARD--NEVER BACK!--

Buchanan Center Holds Annual Taste of the Arts
It was a grand evening at the Buchanan Center for the Arts in Monmouth, IL on Saturday, Nov. 10th. Almost 100 people filled the Center's gallery to overflowing. Wines were presented by Dave Dorset of the Wine Sellers in Macomb and the food was catered by Bruce Cvancara. This year's event was dedicated to the memory of Mr. Mike DiFuccia, whose nine years as executive director of the Buchanan Center was cut short by his untimely death last month.
Although the food and drink were outstanding, the real "raison d'etre" was the re-grant money that was raised. Each year the Buchanan Center must raise matching funds to qualify for money from the Illinois Arts Council. These funds in turn are re-distributed to arts groups and schools throughout Warren County. Among the past recipients have been the Buchanan Community Chorus, The Monmouth Civic Orchestra, the AAUW Art Presenter Program, Old Friends Talk Arts (OFTA), the Community Concert Series, and area schools.
Another highlight of the evening was the presentation of the Spirit of Grace award to a community member who has made a significant contribution to the arts over the years. This year's recipient (shown below) was Leo Ramer, local musician, music teacher, and long time director of the Ecumenical Singers.
